A brief note to let you all know that whilst we had expected to be back on the road before the end of May that we have been delayed by a few health related issues. (Knee surgery\u00a0 & a few other medical tests between us). My knee has recovered\u00a0 & the tests are almost complete,\u00a0 just one more to go in a couple of days time. Our preparations for what will be our most remote travel to date are complete & our fingers are crossed that we will be able to depart before the end of next week.<\/p>\n
We will be driving to the Kimberley (North West Western Australia) via a variety of outback dirt roads & tracks, with a view to arriving in Broome sometime in September, & where we are expecting to become wet season (Monsoon season) caretakers at a small indigenous family owned eco resort in a gorgeous coastal location on the Dampier Peninsula, approximately 200kms north of Broome.<\/p>\n
This promises to be quite an adventure taking us thousands of kilometres across deserts & via some of the country’s most remote aboriginal settlements & national parks.\u00a0 The challenges of the extreme humidity & heat of a tropical northern wet season & all this brings with it, including the almost certainty of being cut off by flood waters for weeks at a time, & the possibility of cyclones are unknowns for us, but we are committed to taking them on in the hope that the positives of experiencing the very green & dynamic Kimberley that most tourists never see will make our time there an overall positive one that we’ll never forget. We are hopeful of making\u00a0 connections with some of the Peninsula’s aboriginal communities in the hope that we might learn more of their rich & complex culture & country.<\/p>\n
We are excited about what lays ahead of us, & look forward to sharing the adventure with you as we go.<\/p>\n
