Rainbow Bee Eater

A very pretty little bird I enjoyed trying to photograph at our camp on the DeGrey River at Mulyie Station.

Preening

Breakfast

Brakes on, coming into land.

Taking the shots was a great way to get to know his habits & the more I could predict what he was going to do the better I got…………. but a close up shot of him in flight with all of him in the frame eluded me. Guess I’ll just have to wait until I find another ‘Rodney’.

  1. Your wonderful blogs bring back our memories. The first time we passed along the Skull Spring Rd., we were coming fron the Telfer Mine Rd. We didn’t know what was around the corner. We camped on a little island in the middle of the the very scenic ‘creek’. Next morning, we found the Running Water Camping area. We didn’t stay.! A couple of young men were in the lovely water, and when they saw Jackie, they couldn’t get out of the water. Sp, we moved on!

  2. Cuppa, are you aware that the bee eater nests in burrows in the ground, quite often in the banks of the roadside?
